RUBIS has continued to revolutionize the Dominican energy industry since commencing operations there five years ago.
These were the sentiments expressed by Mr. Mauricio Nicholls, CEO, RUBIS Caribbean as he addressed over 100 guests at the RUBIS 5th anniversary cocktail party, hosted at the Sunset Terrace, Fort Young Hotel recently. Mr. Nicholls confirmed that since 2011, RUBIS has made a cumulative investment in Dominica and the Eastern Caribbean region in excess of US$50 million.
The growth and investments have resulted in the increase in employment of additional new permanent employees across the region. In acknowledging the growth in Dominica, the CEO, also remarked that the journey was faced with serious challenges, highlighting such areas as LPG prices and operational costs. However, with the successful launch of the brand in Dominica, RUBIS is optimistic that the Dominica operations can return to profitability. In his remarks, Mr. Nicholls also spoke about the continued commitment of RUBIS to the communities of Dominica through various corporate social responsibilities in the areas of education, health, arts and culture over the past five years.
These have included the funding of repairs to Wesley Community Pre-School, corporate sponsorship of the Dominica Cancer Society’s annual Walk for Cancer Care for two consecutive years and support of cultural initiatives including Creole in the Park. The CEO congratulated the local team for their continued hard work and sterling efforts in their community initiatives. As part of the celebrations, customer appreciation events were held at various RUBIS Service Stations across the island. Customers had the chance to play the Spin It To Win It game to receive instant prizes. A great time was had by all!
