RUBIS Dominica supports online studies for the Temple SDA Primary School

RUBIS Dominica is continuing its support of the online school effort with a donation of tablets to the Temple Seventh-Day Adventist Primary School, located on the outskirts of Wesley. Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the school has been proactive in engaging its student body and PTA to prepare for a new way of learning. The blended learning approach has been positively embraced by the students and parents, but one of the major challenges faced included accessibility to devices for teachers and pupils.

While making the donation of 40 Alcatel tablets, Nicholson Dodds, RUBIS Country Representative explained that the energy company was very proud to have been able to assist with these crucial learning devices. During the presentation at the school on March 4, Mr Dodds commented, “All our employees in Dominica are parents and we understand firsthand the challenges some students are facing in this ‘new-normal’ learning environment brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. We are also cognizant that often, schools in the rural districts are overlooked for such assistance so when the school reached out to us, we were pleased to be able to assist in this tangible way.”

The school is located in the North Eastern district of Dominica where RUBIS has two service stations, Marigot and Calibishie. Mr Dodds added, “When we assist Temple SDA, we are giving back to the children of our loyal customers who have supported us over the years. RUBIS is therefore proud to partner with Temple SDA Primary school on this tangible donation of 40 Alcatel tablets valued at EC $13,584.50 which will better prepare these students to face the future.” Erdmine Fabien, Principal of Temple SDA Primary was delighted to receive the donation from RUBIS. At the presentation she expressed, “We express our deepest gratitude to RUBIS Dominica for their kind gesture and contribution to the education of tomorrow’s adults, our students. Your contribution has placed us on the path to the realization of some of our dreams to our student population and so we thank you.”

During 2020, TeamRUBIS assisted the Goodwill Primary School in Roseau with a donation of tablets. In addition, the company donated PPE to the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investment for distribution to frontline workers.
