Participation in sport is key to the positive development of young people and to this end, RUBIS was pleased to sponsor The Development Cup, a youth tournament organised by the Whitehall Football Academy (WFA).
The Club, which hails from Mile and a Quarter, St. Peter, has resumed the hosting of this annual grassroots event which was paused due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The tournament is open to both primary and secondary school players in three age categories, Under-10, Under-14 and Under-16 and matches will be played at grounds throughout the island. The tournament is designed to assist community-based clubs prepare and organise for the resumption of the Barbados Football Association’s (BFA) junior and grassroots tournaments in 2023 and is sanctioned by the BFA. These types of sporting activities are vital to keep the young players focused and dedicated.
The sponsorship will assist the Academy with the provision of trophies, plaques and awards to the players. In making the presentation, Amina Green, Retail Accounts Executive, RUBIS congratulated the organisers, “The Whitehall Football Academy is a community group, genuinely interested in the development of youth and their program provides a positive outlet for young people to progress in a fun and disciplined environment.” She added, “RUBIS is happy to partner with the Academy.”

WFA thanks RUBIS for their unwavering commitment to the development of our island’s youth, both financially and socially. Their donation is greatly appreciated and has assisted tremendously with the restart of youth football in Barbados.”
