RUBIS St Lucia recently made a donation to the Monchy United Football Club (FC) of the Gros Islet Football League to strengthen the Club’s youth development programmes in the community of Monchy and its environs. The grassroots developmental programme targets children between the ages of 5 and 17 and focuses on their holistic development in 4 key phases: Introduction to the fundamentals of football; Identification of talent and specialising in positional play; Competition and Elite athlete development.
In handing over the cheque for $3000, Account Executive for RUBIS Chriselda Norbal congratulated the Club on the programmes, explaining, “RUBIS is excited to support the diverse and dynamic Monchy United FC. Investments in youth development programmes are in keeping with our objectives as a company and we look forward to great things from the young players. We intend to maintain such partnerships in the long run.”
Francis Lastic, Technical Director of the Club, expressed his gratitude to RUBIS for such a healthy investment, stating, “This will ensure that we can continue to engage young children from diverse backgrounds especially the marginalised ones.” President of the Monchy United FC, Charde Desir, commented, “We at Monchy United FC are always grateful when a new corporate partner comes on board. RUBIS has decided to be a key partner in ensuring our youth development programmes remain vibrant amidst a pandemic where many such activities have been curtailed due to financial difficulties. We say thank you very much for coming on board and look forward to us strengthening these programmes for our youth of Gros Islet.”
The presentation took place at the Club’s grounds where parents, players and senior coaches were in attendance.
