Rubis Eastern Caribbean SRL, a company specializing in the marketing of petroleum products, is seeking a self-motivated individual to fill the role of Legal Assistant in Barbados. This position reports to the Legal Affairs and Corporate Coordinator and performs a variety of confidential, legal, corporate and administrative duties to support the company’s regional business units.

The Portfolio

• Assist in the preparation of routine and non-routine legal documentation i.e. taking minutes, drafting resolutions and legal agreements
• Use a contract management system to upload contracts, record key clauses and monitor expiration dates
• Provide corporate secretarial support including the filing of electronic company minutes/company records and handling of statutory filings for the Eastern and Western Caribbean entities
• Process legal related invoices for payment
• Provide front desk/switchboard relief on a rotation basis
• Provide administrative support to other departments on an ad hoc basis including, but not limited to, processing and recording petty cash disbursement

Skills and Attributes:

• Effective time-management skills
• Strong written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite include Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• A team player

Qualifications and Experience:

• An Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies or equivalent
• A professional designation in either Corporate Secretarial Practice, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators or equivalent
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a legal environment
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a corporate secretarial environment
