RUBIS awards recognise academic excellence

The academic excellence of young Guyanese students at three local schools was aptly recognised as RUBIS continued its support for youth and education in 2025.

Awards for academic excellence went to recipients at Bel Air Nursery School, Revon’s Academy, and Kuru Kururu Primary School, with funding provided by RUBIS.

Trophies and gift vouchers for school supplies worth GYD $30,000 each were awarded to Kuru Kururu Primary School students who were the top performers in their 2025 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) exams.

Kuru Kururu Senior Mistress, Melicia Johnson, expressed heartfelt thanks for the generous donation totalling GYD $200,000. “The vouchers provided will greatly assist parents in preparing for the upcoming school year. We value your contribution and look forward to continuing our partnership with your organisation,” Ms. Johnson said.

Students at Bel Air Nursery School were recognised for having the highest attendance records, while outgoing PTA executive members received plaques in their honour. Headmistress Shondell Marshall expressed gratitude, noting that the school looked forward to a continued partnership with RUBIS.

At Revon’s Academy, top academic performers were celebrated with trophies for their outstanding performance in the 2025 CSEC Exams. “The support of RUBIS Guyana added a meaningful touch to our celebration and helped us recognise the hard work and achievements of our students. We value your partnership and commitment to youth development in our community,” said Headmaster Xavier Perreira.

RUBIS Sales & Marketing Coordinator, Natasha Brown, said it was a source of personal and corporate pride to be part of an organisation that valued community and education.

“Giving back to schools isn’t just a one-time initiative for us; it’s part of who we are. Recognising their efforts not only motivates continued success but also reinforces the value of education and perseverance. It’s an honour to support schools in encouraging excellence, and we’re proud to contribute to the growth and confidence of the next generation.”
