Garden of Eden residents enjoy a bright, cheerful RUBIS Christmas

A bright and cheerful RUBIS Christmas came early this year for the residents of the Garden of Eden Senior Citizens Home, Kingstown, St. Vincent, as Team RUBIS dropped in on Christmas Eve to deliver a gift of essential supplies and spend quality time with the delighted seniors.

The donation consisted of essential supplies to support the daily needs and overall well-being of the residents. Items donated included toiletries, adult diapers, hand sanitisers, cleaning products, laundry detergents, dishwashing liquids, Clorox wipes, body creams, soaps, deodorants, and a variety of food items such as sugar, milk, cooking oil, rice, and other necessities.

RUBIS Country Representative, Elroy Edwards, said that as many elderly homes in St. Vincent continue to face funding constraints, the donation would ease some of these challenges and provide meaningful support to both the institution and its residents.

Adding to the donation, members of Team RUBIS took time out of their busy Christmas schedules to visit the home and engage with the residents, participating in games and creating a warm and joyful atmosphere that brought smiles to the residents’ faces.

“Christmas is a time for demonstrating love, care, and compassion, particularly as many elderly individuals experience increased loneliness and isolation during the holiday season. Beyond material support, spending quality time and ensuring residents feel included, valued, and cherished make Christmas an especially meaningful time for such initiatives,” Edwards said.

Christiana Davis, Manager of the Garden of Eden, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the hearty donation and visit.

“On behalf of the Garden of Eden, I would like to sincerely thank RUBIS for this generous donation. This contribution will go a long way in supporting our daily operations and improving the comfort and well-being of our residents. We are especially grateful that the RUBIS team took the time to visit, interact with our residents, and bring joy during the Christmas season. Initiatives like this make a meaningful difference, and we truly appreciate RUBIS’ continued dedication and commitment to giving back to the citizens of St. Vincent,” Such initiatives are a true testament to their role as a responsible and caring business in St. Vincent,” she said.

Some residents personally expressed their appreciation for the visit, including Bernette Baptiste, who noted: “I really enjoyed the interaction and playing dominoes with you guys. I hope you can come back soon.”

The outreach continued RUBiS’ well-established corporate social responsibility policy of giving back by supporting people in need. Over the past decade, as part of its ongoing community support initiatives, the company has consistently distributed food baskets to vulnerable individuals and seniors across various communities in St. Vincent during the Christmas season, reinforcing a long-standing tradition of community support.
