Barbados Cadet Corps Inter-Battalion Track & Field Championship gets backing from Team RUBIS

Intense rivalry and keen competition are anticipated as five battalions of the Barbados Cadet Corps converge for the Inter-Battalion Track & Field Championship at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex on May 30, backed by a $5,000 Team RUBIS sponsorship.

The Barbados Cadet Corps (BCC) is justifiably proud of its record as one of the most highly respected youth organisations across the Caribbean, and for having shaped and

developed a wide range of outstanding leaders. In addition to training in marching, shooting, skills at arms and map-and-compass navigation, cadets are encouraged to maintain a strong level of physical fitness.

Expressing appreciation for the sponsorship on behalf of the Barbados Defence Force (BDF), Major Michael Jules credited RUBIS as a cherished partner supporting the mission of the Corps.

“On behalf of Brigadier, The Honourable Carlos Lovell, Chief of Staff of the Barbados Defence Force, and Commander Carl Farley, Commandant of the Barbados Cadet Corps, we are extremely grateful for this Sponsorship from RUBIS Caribbean for the Barbados Cadet Corps Commandant’s Inter-Battalion Track and Field Championships. RUBIS Caribbean has been an outstanding and cherished partner of the Barbados Defence Force over the years, and these funds will significantly support the successful execution of our event,” Major Jules said.

Retail Accounts Executive, Amina Green, said as RUBIS continued its 15th anniversary celebrations, the company was proud to partner with the Barbados Cadet Corps as a sponsor for the upcoming Inter-Battalion Track and Field Championship.

“We fully endorse this initiative, which aligns with the Ministry of Education’s focus on enrolling secondary students in uniformed organisations to teach responsibility and community service. Rubis continues its commitment to fostering discipline and excellence through youth sports and extracurricular activities,” Green said.

The Inter-Battalion Championship will bring together nearly 1,200 cadets from five battalions, who will compete in a series of running, jumping and throwing events for the title of Champion Battalion. The battalions will also compete for the title of champions in the Tug-O-War. Former cadets and parents will also have the opportunity to participate in selected races, adding to the spirit of camaraderie, fun and excitement throughout the event.
