Armstrong Fuelled by Rubis

Neil Armstrong will be grabbing major attention this rally season in a custom Ford Escort Mk11 through sponsorship from Rubis, Total Lubricants, Virgin Atlantic, COT, GUNK and Hankook.

The five time Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Group Champion has set himself a new challenge, his first ever competition in a rear-wheel drive car. Neil’s previous wins include 2002 BRC Rookie of the Year, four wheel-drive titles in Group N and Group A as well as wins in Super Modified 10 in the infamous “Pit Bull” Toyota Starlet.

This year Armstrong has traded the “Pit Bull” for the Ford Escort Mk11 built by CA1 Sport, based in Cumbria, England. The Escort sports a 330hp 2.5-litre Millington Diamond Series II engine.

This year, Team Rubis will include Neil, with his navigator Barry Ward, as well as 2015 Rally Barbados champions Jeff Panton and Mike Fennell Jr.  Andrea Gooding, Marketing Manager, Rubis said the team is looking forward to the 2016 motorsports season and anticipation for the upcoming Rally Barbados tournament. “ The Ford Escort Mk11 is certainly a beautiful car and we think it will bring a lot of energy and excitement to this year’s events. In 2015, Team Rubis drivers collectively delivered the most successful rally year to date for us and this is a feat we hope to achieve in 2016.”
