RUBIS supports Stichting Lotjeshuis in creating a brighter future for children

Every child deserves the best possible start and the prospect of a bright future.

That’s the commitment underscored by Team RUBIS at a recent €5,000 presentation to Stichting Lotjeshuis, a non-profit organisation in Suriname dedicated to providing shelter, care, and support to abandoned and vulnerable children.

The funds donated through RUBIS’ annual community development program will support Stichting Lotjeshuis’s daily operations. Team RUBIS will also visit the organisation to assist with furniture repairs and conduct reading activities with the children.

Euan Irving, Sales Manager at RUBIS, emphasised the company’s commitment to the children’s well-being as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, which focus on education and healthcare. “At RUBIS, we believe in making a meaningful impact on the communities we serve. Supporting Stichting Lotjeshuis aligns with our core values of care and responsibility. We hope this contribution helps to create a brighter future for these children.”

Anita Willems, Director of Stichting Lotjeshuis, thanked RUBIS for coming on board and emphasised that the funds would be used to enhance the children’s development, upbringing, and overall well-being. “This generous donation will greatly benefit the children in our care, allowing us to continue providing them with a safe and nurturing environment. We are truly grateful to RUBIS for recognising the importance of our mission.”

Ms. Willems said Stichting Lotjeshuis focuses on improving the well-being of children in need, ensuring they have access to a brighter future through structured programs and community support initiatives.

During the visit to the facility, Team RUBIS was provided with an insightful tour to meet the children and observe essential areas such as the laundry room, kitchen, sleeping areas, and play spaces. Ms. Willems said despite operating with limited resources, the foundation maintains a clean, well-organised, and child-friendly environment, ensuring a safe and nurturing space for the children.

The Director explained that Stichting Lotjeshuis supports the Bureau for Family and Judicial Affairs, which assigns children who need the care and protection to the foundation.
