Residents of the St. John Association of Antigua & Barbuda Inc. (St. John Hospice) are basking in the afterglow of a recent beautification project by Team RUBIS.
The project, which featured a team of RUBIS volunteers armed with garden and home maintenance tools, followed as part of a recent RUBIS donation of XCD $13,000 to the Association to support its daily operations.
Enthusiasm, teamwork and good weather all contributed to the operation’s success, as the team got to work sprucing up the environment, cleaning windows and screens, pruning fig trees and other plants, raking and bagging dry leaves, and even feeding the fish.
Mrs. Pauline Christopher, Administrator of the St. John Association of Antigua & Barbuda Inc., praised the RUBIS team for their effort.
“I would like to say a big thank you to you and your team for doing such a wonderful job on Friday (July 2nd) in the beautification project. We appreciate the time and effort you took out of your busy schedules. Thanks again.”
RUBIS Country Representative, Raphaelene Jackson, said they were proud to support such a meaningful cause as part of the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility roadmap. She emphasised RUBIS’ dedication to supporting communities, with a focus on education and healthcare.
“The RUBIS Team committed to working with the hospice by donating funds and contributing their time to assist the Hospice. Our workday on July 2nd fulfilled that commitment, and the time spent cleaning windows and window screens, pruning the fig trees and plants and raking the dry leaves clearly and effectively demonstrated “Teamwork.” We had an enjoyable day, and we thank our colleagues for their hard work and a job well done! We also thank the hospice for their accommodation of the team and all they do for the community,” Jackson said.
The St. John Association of Antigua & Barbuda Inc. is a nonprofit hospice dedicated to providing compassionate, dignified end-of-life care. Its mandate is to ensure terminally ill individuals receive professional, supportive care in a comforting environment. In addition to hospice services, the organisation offers respite care for elderly individuals who typically live with family members but may require temporary support.
As a nonprofit that operates with only nominal fees to help cover expenses, the hospice relies heavily on fundraisers and donations to sustain its vital services.
