Team RUBIS has stepped up to put animal welfare at the top of the podium as competitors run, walk and wag their way to a fun finish in The Villages at Coverley 5K Run, Walk & Wag event this Saturday, April 5th, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The annual event raises funds and awareness in support of the work of the Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary. Proceeds, including Team RUBIS’ donation of BBD $1,000, will go directly to Ocean Acres. Accounts Executive at RUBIS, Amina Green presented the sponsorship to Leyann Browne, Sales Agent, The Villages at Coverley, noting the goal was to support community building.
Green said, “RUBIS is committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen our community through our participation and charitable donations to assist organisations like Ocean Acres. We’re pleased to support the annual 5k Run, Walk & Wag.”
Leyann Browne, Sales Agent at The Villages at Coverley, thanked RUBIS for its support. She said the contribution would greatly assist Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary in achieving its goals.
The event takes place entirely within the Villages at Coverley. On race day, roads in the community will be closed to vehicular traffic from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM for the safety of all participants.
Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary, a registered charity dedicated to delivering positive change, began its operations in December 2019. Its mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned and abused dogs and cats in Barbados while advocating for societal transformation.
Driven by a commitment to tackling the root causes of pet overpopulation, Ocean Acres strives to build a society in Barbados where animals are respected, and neglect and cruelty are rejected. The Sanctuary is known for its ongoing successful rehoming of approximately 2000 dogs and cats outside of Barbados, an approach specifically designed to help relieve the overpopulation of animals in the short term while their greater long-term mission is pursued.
