RUBIS continues to support the development of sport in Guyana and recently signed on as a sponsor of the Softball Cricket Cup Tournament 2014.
Now in its fourth year, this event has attracted 24 teams comprising 12 local and 12 international squads from New York, Florida, parts of Canada and hosts Guyana.
In making a presentation at the official launch ceremony, RUBIS’ Sales Representative, Rhonda Johnson, explained the energy company was very committed to supporting sports locally and regionally and were pleased to work with the Guyana Floodlight Softball Association to host the event. She said, “The organisers have worked very hard and have invested in the development of this event which is represented in the growth the tournament has seen each year”.
The tournament will be played on October 31 and November 1 at the Police Ground on Eve Leary, Everest Ground, GCC Bourda, DCC Ground on Lance Gibbs Street, Ghandi Ground and MYO Ground on Wolford Avenue and Enmore and Enterprise Ground on the East Coast. There are two main cup challenges with the Open for players of any age and the Masters for players 45 years and over. Defending champions are Trophy Stall and New York Better Hope.
