Students at two primary schools in St. Lucia recently enjoyed engaging visits and timely donations to meet various needs as Team RUBIS continued its support for local educational institutions.
With funding provided by Rubis, Soufriere Primary School received a transformative technological upgrade with the addition of 10 laptops valued at XCD 7,750 for its computer lab, while Fond St. Jacques Primary School was allocated XCD 5,200 to purchase a refrigerator for its feeding programme.
Delighted students at both schools welcomed members of the RUBIS team, who arrived armed with fruit cup treats. The students enjoyed engaging and interactive sessions introducing them to RUBIS and its products and services. At Fond St. Jacques, students particularly appreciated the demonstrations on LPG and safety practices, and were encouraged to share this knowledge with their parents and guardians.
RUBIS Accounts Executive Chriselda Norbal noted that the team was pleased to participate in an initiative that made meaningful contributions to public schools and benefited students in tangible ways. She said RUBIS was proud to give back in ways that have a lasting and positive impact on the youth and their education.
“We had the opportunity to support the Fond St. Jacques Primary School by donating a refrigerator to aid their school feeding programme. We are confident that this contribution will assist the kitchen staff in better serving the students and ensuring meals are preserved and prepared more efficiently.
Additionally, we were pleased to provide the Soufriere Primary School with 10 laptops to support its newly renovated computer lab. This contribution was made possible partly through a meaningful discount offered by The Cell St. Lucia. We trust that the students will fully use these devices to enhance their learning experience,” Norbal said.
Virgil Mangaroo, Principal, Fond St. Jacques Primary School, extended heartfelt thanks on behalf of the school and community. “This gift was very timely and truly needed. Your support plays a vital role in helping us provide nutritious meals for our students, ensuring they are ready to learn and thrive each day,” Mrs. Mangaroo said.
Principal of Soufriere Primary School, Cecilia Haynes, said the laptops for the school’s computer lab would help to bridge the digital divide, as every student deserves the tools they need to succeed in the 21st century.
“Borne out of a burning need to provide technological tools for less fortunate students during the COVID-19 pandemic, this gesture from RUBIS St Lucia is truly remarkable and a testament to a generous, persistent, cooperative spirit. The laptops will be used across the school to facilitate student learning, particularly to assist with collaborative projects.”
