Y-RIE programme participants staying safe with RUBIS PPE

A cohort of young Grenadians accessing professional development opportunities via the USAID Youth Resilience Inclusion and Empowerment (Y-RIE) program, can do so safely with a donation of PPE (personal protective equipment) provided by Team RUBIS.

This follows a recent presentation of $3,000 worth of PPE to participants of the Learning Business by Doing Business (LBDB) activity. This activity offers youth pathways to enhance success, sustain personal development, and create positive outcomes for their families and communities. It provides young people with hands-on training, mentorships, internships, guest speaker engagements, exposure tours, and financial contributions in various forms.

The PPE provided by RUBIS includes essential items such as hard hats, protective goggles, electrical gloves, steel-toe boots, and hazard vests, all critical to ensuring the safety of individuals in high-risk job sites.

Johnny Calliste, Program Manager, USAID Youth, noted that support from RUBIS and other private sector organisations is vital to the Y-RIE Ignite Learning Business by Doing Business program.“Their support is essential for achieving the program’s goals of helping youth from specific communities in Grenada to enter the workforce and access professional development opportunities. This partnership and financial backing will provide participants with internships, apprenticeships, skills training, and mentorship. Consequently, it will enhance their chances of finding meaningful employment, improving their socio-economic status, and contributing to the resilience of communities in Grenada,” Calliste said.

Areen Lewis, Accounts Executive for RUBIS, said the donation would help young people take advantage of the opportunities offered.  “We are confident that the skills and opportunities made available through this donation will impact many lives in Grenadian communities. As a corporate entity, one of our goals is to effect positive change in the community where we operate, and supporting this initiative fulfils that mandate.”
