Rubis Caribbean joined the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to support the 2015 Caribbean Centre for Food Security and Sustainability (CCFSS) Youth Organic Agriculture Project. As a Caribbean focused company, this project aligned with Rubis Caribbean’s goals for 2015. The Youth Organic Agriculture Project, located in Barbados helped to develop a streamlined method of introducing sustainable organic farming – under controlled conditions – to demographics not traditionally involved in agriculture. This included young people and urban communities.
Participants built greenhouses, grew fruits and vegetables using sustainable practices, trained to teach permaculture to others and even learned basic bookkeeping for agro-business. Rubis Caribbean was happy to fuel these young agriculturalists’ education and more agricultural education.
