Exciting finale to Bethel High School sports meet in St. Vincent, as athletes get going with RUBIS

The budding athletic talents of Bethel High School really got going on the track at their annual Inter-House School Athletics Meet which was held on Friday 24th February.  The night event, a new tradition, was competed in an electric atmosphere at the Victoria Park Playing Field for a raft of medals and trophies provided by Team RUBIS.

The meet showcased the young talents from four houses and Findley House (Blue) emerged victorious, after tallying 1162 points. Second place went to Williams House (Red), with a total of 1112 points; Jack’s House (Green), placed third with 978 points; and Anderson House (Yellow) was fourth with a total of 863 points. The excitement was shared by the family, friends and fans of Bethel High as the meet was also live streamed on VC3 TV and Facebook compliments Team RUBIS.

Elroy Edwards, Country Representative RUBIS was on hand to present a cheque for EC$1800 to the school in support of the athletics meet. “The company’s association with Bethel High School is indicative of RUBIS’ overall vision for youth development in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Our level of commitment is evident not only through our support for the Bethel High School sports but also for the Central Leeward Secondary School, Saint Joseph Convent and other schools. We believe such programs are essential to giving the athletes an opportunity to put their skills on show, and extremely important to the overall development of the students, making them better, more rounded, and disciplined individuals” said Mr Edwards.

Bethel High School Headmaster, Earl Cruickshank, commended Rubis for continuing to demonstrate a high level of social responsibility to the community and youth development. “It has now become a tradition for us to have ‘night sports’ and this year has been a resounding success. We appreciate the generous sponsorship offered as it contributed tremendously towards the success we achieved on sports day. I do hope that this year marks the beginning of a long and rewarding partnership between your company and the Bethel High School.”
